ELA
Epic! (Grades K-5)
A digital library for ages 12 and under, Epic is like a Netflix for books. Resources include text-to-speech, quizzes, learning videos, and more. Books can be saved to the app to be accessed without internet. Parents and educators can track student progress. Epic is offering a free month.
Raz-Kids (Grades K-5)
This is a leveled reading resource for students K-5. Resources include text-to-speech, Spanish translations, student recordings, quizzes for determining comprehension and instructional needs. Teachers can make online assessments. This is also subscription based but is offering free membership.
National Council of Teachers of English ReadWriteThink (Gades P-12)
ELA resources for all grade levels for students, teachers, and parents. Includes lesson plans, activities and projects, etc. Resources are filterable by grade level, learning objective, theme, etc.
New York Times Learning Network
Activities for students include writing, current articles and trends, crosswords, multimedia, and contests. Teachers resources are organized based on content areas.
NewsELA (Grades 3-12)
Immediate and free access is provided for teachers. District administrators can request access. Topics are organized according to content/subject and genre. Aligned to standards with reading passages adapted to meet the needs of the student.
A YouTube channel created and run by children’s books writers and illustrators. Users will find workshops, readings, activities, art projects, writing games, and writing advice that will offer fun and creative distractions during potential school closures and quarantines.
Readworks offers free content and curriculum for grades K-12. It includes remote learning resources for educators, families, and students. Content includes reading passages, question sets, paired texts, vocabulary, ebooks, audio narrations, and lessons and units.
Audible Stories (Grades K-12)
Offers free streaming on all devices where students and families can access a variety of books across educational levels. Books are available for listening in six different languages. No sign-in or subscription is required.
Quill (Grades K-12)
Provides free writing and grammar activities for elementary, middle, and high school levels. Includes lessons, diagnostics, and assignments allowing teachers and students to work together.
Poetry Foundation (Grades K-12)
This site offers a collection of over 40,000 poems for children, teens, and adults. The collection is organized by genre and includes, but is not limited to, historical time periods, culture, pastime, and humor. Students also have access to archived and current Poetry magazines, poems read aloud by poets, and Poetry magazine podcasts.
Math
The EngageNY curriculum modules are a free, open education resource aligned to the CCLS for grades K through Pre-Calculus. Additional supplemental materials, including parent tip sheets may be found at Great Minds (Eureka Math).
Great Minds (Eureka Math) Knowledge on the Go
Knowledge on the Go is a free collection of recorded math lessons aligned to the Eureka Math (EngageNY) modules for Grades K–Pre-Calculus. These lessons are delivered by Great Minds’ own teachers and will be viewable on any device. New videos are being posted daily to help broaden the spectrum of lessons/topics covered. The sequence of the released videos align to curriculum maps found in the Story of Units, Story of Ratios and Story of Functions.
Math Studio Talks: Common Core Instruction Video Series provides games, activities and models to help students develop flexible thinking and deep understanding of math concepts from kindergarten to Grade 5. These videos demonstrate key concepts that build students’ conceptual understanding and highlight the coherence in the standards from one grade to the next. These videos can be used to reinforce/review skills that have been learned.
eMath Instruction offers an asynchronous online curriculum for the middle level grades 6-8, and the high school courses of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II. Each eMath Instruction course consists of lesson plans and homework sets. These resources are available for free download (except for answer keys) on each course page. For each lesson there is a full length (15-30 minute) YouTube video. The content of the high school courses is aligned to the CCLS and the current high school state assessments. The curriculum at the middle level (6-8) is aligned to the Next Generation Learning Standards, however, can be adapted, if necessary, depending on topics.
JMAP offers free instructional resources aligned to New York's Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and PreCalculus and AP Calculus AB. New York standards related resources include worksheets, lesson plans, and previous Regents examinations (with and without answers) for all mathematics curricula. JMAP's print based resources are available in docx format for easy customization and pdf formats for easy reproduction.
Achieve the Core offers free, open-source resources to support the content of the CCLSM for grades/courses K-Algebra II. Website contains a collection of standard aligned lessons, tasks (Illustrative Mathematics and Student Achieve Partners) and mini assessments. All materials are downloadable.
Standard aligned tasks also can be found embedded in the available coherence map.
Delta Math is a free on-line resource which provides practice problems aligned to the content of the CCLSM for grades 6-8, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus. Solutions utilize visual tools, animation, and interactive hints. Platform allows for students to be able to graph functions, as well as apply various transformations.
GeoGebra is a free open-source mathematics software/apps that can be used to support the teaching and learning of the CCLSM for elementary, middle and high school. Available resources include activities, simulations, exercises, lessons and games that allow for students to be able to visualize and interact with mathematical concepts.

STEM FOR ALL MULTIPLEX - COVID-19: Providing STEM Resources to Teachers and Families (Grades PK-12)

Social Studies
New Visions (Grades 9-11):
New Visions for Public Schools has developed full scope and sequence curricular frameworks designed for the Global History and Geography I and II courses and the U.S. History course. The curriculum integrates rich primary and secondary texts, maps, images, videos, and other reputable online sources into materials that meet the New York State K-12 Social Studies Framework’s objectives and provide students an opportunity to improve literacy skills by focusing on thinking critically while reading, writing, and speaking like historians.
World History for Us All (Grade 6, 9-10)
World History for Us All is a national collaboration of K-12 teachers, collegiate instructors, and educational technology specialists. It is a project of the National Center for History in the Schools, a division of the Public History Imitative, Department of History, UCLA. World History for Us All is a continuing project. Elements under development will appear on the site as they become available.
Ducksters Education Site (Grade 4-12)
The Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University has launched of Selma Online – a free, downloadable teaching platform that aims to change how the civil rights movement is taught in the United States. Selma Online prompts students to seize upon the rights guaranteed to them in the Constitution to challenge injustice. Selma Online uses twelve scenes from Ava DuVernay’s award-winning film “Selma” as a storyboard for exploring the events in Selma, Alabama, in 1965 and the complexities of the voting rights movement.
Digital Public Library of America (DPLA)
DPLA provides access to Primary Source Sets that explore topics in history, literature, and culture. These sets were developed by educators and include teaching guides. DPLA also provides access to a collection of free e-books.
The New York State Archives presents historical records (1630-present) and standards-based learning activities developed by New York teachers. Find learning activities by topic. New York State Archives Partnership Trust
The Trust provides online access to primary source-based lessons, information about the annual Student Research Awards Program, and tools for teaching with historical records. The Student Research Award program will be held in 2020. The deadline for submitting entries is July 1, 2020. Entries must be emailed to: ARCHEDU@nysed.gov. Please consult the program guidelines for more information.

Presidential Libraries and National Archives (Online student programs)

History at Home is a comprehensive suite of online social studies programs and materials aligned to the NYS Social Studies Framework. Students can create animation, games, interactive stories online. Students can also upload their own artwork/music to manipulate with scratch. Teachers can also create classes online where student accounts can be linked so that teachers can provide feedback to students.
